Atopic dermatitis most commonly affects flexural skin. In this case all the skin areas are involved with patchy, flaring, itching dermatitis. This young adult female patient has been under continuous therapy for several years. Temporary relief was achieved with a short course of oral azole antifungal drugs (especially ketoconazole). She had high level of serum IgE antibodies against Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum ovale), indicating the aetiological role of this commensal yeast.
