Pain and swelling appeared in the right calf of a patient with lymphoma. An ultrasound examination of the veins of the lower extremities was performed after three days: it was possible to compress vena femoralis down till the most distal parts, but vena poplitea was stiff and the returned echoes suggested a deep thrombosis in the proximal part of vena poplitea.
