A female patient, 58 years of age, mastectomy and removal of the axillary lymph nodes performed in 1991 because of lobular breast cancer. By the end of 1991, pleural metastasizing on the left side was found. Treatment with tamoxifen and cytotoxic chemotherapy until June 1993, then hormonal therapy. Chest x-ray from June 1996 shows increased pleural shadowing. There is bilateral accentuation of the interstitial pattern as an indication of lymphangitis carcinomatosa. The mild enlargement of the heart has an older history; width of the central vessels is normal.
