A. The patient has an extensive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in the left breast diagnosed with mammography and needle biopsies. Situation before the operation.
B. Skin-conserving total mastectomy and mamillectomy was performed and the breast was reconstructed with a TRAM (transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous) flap. Situation one year after the operation. The patient has gained weight, and both the genuine and the reconstructed breast have become larger.
